Dr. Gopal Nath, A medical Doctor, specialising in Microbiology. He did MD and PhD in Medical Microbiology. He has born in the village of Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh in 1961 and after his schooling, he joined Allahabad Medical College in 1979 and then MD from the Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University in 1988. He joined as a lecturer in the same Institute in 1990 and got promoted to Professor in 2007. His basic interest is in gut microbiota and bacteriophage therapy.
He has published 275 research articles and has an H-index of 49 and a total citation of 9531. His major contribution to medical science is: 1) Demonstrating the association of Chronic typhoid carriage with cancer gallbladder,
2) Pioneering work in the field of research, i) Bacteriophage therapy of chronic non-healing ulcer in humans ii) standardization of phage therapy in animal against Drug-resistant bacterial septicaemia including typhoid infection (Acute and chronic both).
He has got a keen interest in social service and brings a biannual rural magazine “ Madai se khaprail…tak” since 2010 as the Chief Editor. Dr Gopal Nath writes thoughtful editorials and stories for the motivation of the deprived rural young population.
